You Don’t Need Expensive Gym Equipment Or a Lot of Time To Get Fit And Be Healthy!

Everyone - young and old, we all need to take care of our bodies and mind. By taking care of ourselves, it keeps us thinking, moving and helps prevent major illnesses such cancer and many other diseases. We all have to work at keeping ourselves healthy and there is no better time than right now.
For better health, experts recommend both - a healthy diet and physical activity. As we age, our body’s metabolism slows, so we need to eat less and exercise more often to maintain our energy balance.

Watch what you eat and drink.
Keep an eye on that diet and make sure you not overeating, but eat enough to get vitamins you need to have. The ideal daily meal should include all necessary components. A well balanced diet should contain proteins, carbohydrates and even some little fat. Avoid too much added salt and sugar and lots of fat. Do not forget to eat a lot of vegetables and drink about 2 liters of water every day. It is best not to eat heavy food after 6 pm.

Get off the bus or subway one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way. Or, walk to work in good weather if you live close enough.

Walk, bike or jog at your own pace.
For a less impactful workout, swim or find a water aerobics class.

Join a community basketball, softball, volleyball or tennis league.
Take a martial arts, and dance or yoga class.
Learn how to downhill or cross-country ski.
Try a nature walk to relax, or take the whole family to enjoy the scenery.
